The father of late Nigeria’s first female helicopter pilot, Akintunde Arotile, has recently revealed what his daughter told him few hours before announcement of her death.
“It is an understatement to be devastated but recalling what my daughter, Tolulope, told me before announcement of her death was that she wish to have an Air Service career as a child”, he revealed.
Recall that Tolulope Arotile died in a road traffic accident as her former school classmate unknowingly hit her down with the excitement to greet her. However, Tolulope Arotile had bad injuries, which led to her death.
Speaking recently during condolence visit from Nigerians, Akintunde Arotile further said that he could remember how he told her daughter to return home on time.
“It was around 1pm on Tuesday, we spoke on phone as she just returned from an operation against the bandits in Kastina and they gave them a week break, in which I told her to come home very soon.
“Not too long, around 5:30pm that someone called me and asked if I have spoken to her today, I answered yes. Thereafter, the person asked me to call her again, in which I did but not reachable.
“I summoned courage to call her colleagues but they were just crying on phone as they couldn’t answer. Immediately, I called his bosses and they told me that she’s in mortuary, I didn’t believe “, he narrated.
Speaking further, Akintinde Arotile added that he could remember her daughter’s dream to fly a aircraft.
“My daughter is not just intelligent and brilliant but wonderful but I thank God Almighty she was able to achieve her dream to an extent before she died”, Akintunde Arotile painfully submitted.
