Omoyele Sowore, the former presidential candidate of African Action Congress and the convener of revolutionnow protest as again called for a nationwide protest against President Muhammadu Buhari amidst the ravaging coronavirus pandemic.
Sowore called for pots pan protest against President Muhammadu Buhari. This call for a nationwide protest is coming four months after Mr Sowore was released from the DSS detention.
Sowore calls for nationwide protest, on his social media page, where he wrote, “#Revolutionnow plates are empty and the stomach is very empty! Bang your pot at home, don’t let hunger kill you at home because of their greed, corruption and incompetence”
In a separate tweet earlier Sowore wrote, “#PotPanProtest #Nigeria #RevolutionNow Nigerians have been pushed to the brink by hunger, poverty and starvation occasioned by the greed, corruption and incompetence of Nigerian rulers”.
This, Sowore calls for nationwide protest, however, didn’t go down well with some of Mr Sowore’s follower as many of them demanded food instead of a call to protest amidst a ravaging pandemic.
One said, “So Mr Sowore will that put food on my table for me and my family? Or will it release my financial restrain? I think you can do better than most officials in power now but I am not feeling this pot thing at the moment cus of the state of mind…”
Another also stated that “If they push you please don’t push yourself..(PPP) cannot help you it will only kill and jail you …use your sense their pikin Dey abroad …@YeleSowore should put food on peoples table at this time not protest …”
One wonders why Mr Sowore is calling for a protest at this period Ladi Ajala, @ladiajala said, “Why is he so desperate. ur country is trying 2 battle a world pandemic just like many countries out there. This is not d time to be advocating 4 this. If he is truly a patriotic Nigerian worthy of being prez 1 day. Many countries r dying in their thousands. It might happen to us”.
But few other agree with Mr Onoyele sowore and have an explanation you what Mr Sowore is asking Nigerians to do.
One said, “this should be done using the means of social media. Every concerned Nigerians to do this at home with a short clip of 1-2min video ranting seriously then bombard the internet. Also tagging this those govt officials. We shouldn’t break the rules but to keep safe.”
Another follower also reasoned that path, “It’s time for resistance against this bad leadership, they are not accountable for over 60 years now. No money no electricity, asuu day strike when Havard day test vaccine. We deserve more Biko”.
Recall that the last time Mr Sowore called for a nationwide protest, many Nigerians did not comply as few states with leas number of people joined the protest that does not stop the Department of state security, DSS from arresting Mr Sowore accusing him of calling for a forceful change of Buhari’s government.
After several disregards to court judgments ordering the release of Mr Sowore, the DSS final released Sowore on the 25th of December, 2019.
