Nigerians have cried out in pain as it is no longer news that lockdown in Abuja, Lagos, Ogun and other States have been extended by another 14 days to curb the spread and eradicate the alarming increasing cases of the virus called COVID-19
Recently and according to the president, Muhammadu Buhari, he said that with this in mind and having carefully considered the briefings and report from the Presidential Task Force and the various options offered, it has become necessary to extend the current restriction of movement in Lagos and Ogun States as well as the FCT for another 14 days.
Knowing fully that the initial lockdown which started on March 30th is to end today, April 14th, 2020, however, Nigerians have been surfing the Internet, lamenting the rate at which hunger is striking them while many vigorously cried out as they turned vigilante in night and day time for the alarming robbery incidents.
Nevertheless, Nigerians will always prove they are identified as many took to their social media handles to blast, lament, cry out and among others for Federal Government, the president, in particular, Buhari, to help them and provide immediate solutions to problems as another 14 days commences. On Twitter, many tweeted.
@UnclePamilerin, “Some families managed to survive the last 14 days. How are they going to survive another 14 days? If we can have food circulation, everyone will be happy to stay indoors. Please reach out to those you can during this trying times. May our helper locate us”.
@The_Seeker_76, “Takeaways from #BuhariAddressNigerians speech: 1. Lockdown extended for another 14 days in Lagos. Abuja & Ogun. 2. Buhari seems unaware of the increased crime & violence that have engulfed Lagos & Ogun, as his speech ignored it or it’s consequences 3. IT WAS NOT LIVE”.
@Simply_Tacha, Imagine fighting an enemy you can’t see. We can only hope for the best! Another 14 days are! Lord please take control, #TachaSilentAchiever”.
@Victor_avo_ “Will I survive this season 2 of lockdown like this bayi#BreakingNews #Lockdown”.
@BetMuna, “Another 14 days Extention by President Buhari, while we talk about lack of foods, security, jobs and light, this is also not a good time for those in abusive relationships/marriage. Imagine been stuck in lockdown with an abusive spouse. Imagine the emotional stress”.
@dammiedammie35, “President Buhari, you enforced 2weeks lockdown before without any proper care for your citizens, people starved, attacked by armed robbers, property damaged. Now you’re telling us to stay home for another 2weeks! Take proper care of your citizens! We have BVN Numbers”.
Relatively on the Facebook social media platform, many commented;
Akani Joshua Gbenga said it is not difficult because the animal that voted for u will know what they called democracy before Friday after hungervirus visits them. Wicked government, no reliefs measure for us that didn’t votes for him because we know nothing good can comes out of him according to trump.
Sam Enech also added, “Buhari is just a waste of space. I am sure he is regretting being pushed to contest & rig for the second term. No place to hide. You have 3 more years to contend with us in this space. He will continue to ridicule himself & be ridiculed. Shekina! I am laughing loud at those Zombuharists. We go soon know who the main wailers are. The game is on”.
Jolayemi Gbenga stated, “Reasonable countries around the world are not locking down its citizens but here in Nigeria, useless government and supporter are justified madness because they lived in comfort zones. Send us relief measures and let see if Nigeria will not stay at home. Wicked government is comparing Nigeria with India, Italy as if the countries didn’t provide relief measures to its citizens”.
Bolaji Akinbehinje lamented that the tension in Lagos and Ogun is high as the situation is like the man in the deep blue sea. “Please help those you could help around you, people are really hungry, show a little kindness”.
Muhamed Salami blasted, “Get out I don’t wanna see this nonsense post scam president scam government. Nigeria has the highest bigger people in the world and also the homeless people, you can not solve all those problems as a president. Remove those people are bugging in the street and the homeless people, u will see change, people are crying every day, no job opportunity no good salary opportunity no electricity opportunity. No water opportunity. The people just live like hellfire.
James Bennekson also added “It’s quite unacceptable to lockdown people without palliatives. U don’t share, u don’t allow people to work”.
Oluwashinaayomi Kazeem stated, “Mr Man… Let’s keep this aside… We are suffering from hunger virus and armed robbery both in Lagos State and Ogun State oo… Everyone all does vigilante at night till d following morning… No sleeping anymore both in d daytime and at night cos they operate in d day and at night.. they are using armed weapon including gun… come to our aid”.
However on the other way round, very few supported the extension.
@Official_Mohync, “Staying at home for another 14 days is far better than staying at the isolation centre for the next 14 days, let alone staying in the grave for the rest of the time. It is a hard but necessary decision…Comply with President Buhari & stay safe #BuhariAddressNigerians #BreakingNews.
Obviously and with the state of reactions and comments, Nigerians are not happy as the country, Nigeria is not smiling, moreover, many have pleaded the president to attend to their cry.
