The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has came up with new policy for ladies to get drug test before getting married.
This statement policy was released recently by the Agency’s Chairman, Mustapha Abdallah, noted that it’s to know the health wise status of the ladies before they venture into marriage.
According to him, drug test may have to be part of premarital screening in both church and mosque.
Speaking on the reason for the new drug test policy, he said it’s due to the alarming high rate of drug addiction among married and single ladies.
Added that NDLEA will partner with the religious leaders in both churches and mosque as to make compulsory the drug test as genotype and HIV/AIDS are very crucial.
Mohammed Abdalla thereby urged Nigerians and the government to support in making the drug test reality.
However, many reacted as they said that there is no gender equality, noted that not only women are drugs addicts.
“Men should be the major target and focus, not female gender”, reactions read.
Relatively, some said that the NDLEA misplaced priority over the present happening in the country.
