Not less than eight Nigerian Police have been arrested in Lagos State for blackmailing a Social Media Influencer, Olumide Bakare.
Speaking recently after the secret exposed, the victim, Olumide Bakare, said that about seven Police Officers stopped his Taxify vehicle around Abiola Garden area as three out of them entered the vechile and directed the driver to the station.
“We arrived at the station, put the driver and I in a room and they collected all my gadgets. I answered all their questions correctly but still, they didn’t release me.
“The annoying part, they checked through my social media platforms and saw a homosexual chat on a group I belonged to and tagged me GAY after I explained to them that I’m Media Influencer and work for different Brands”, he explained.
Olumide expressed himself that it sounded ridiculous to him for being called Gay as he was thereafter beaten with pipe rod.
“They forced me to write statements, stated that I have Male clients and pay me for having sex with them, worse part, they listed names to write for me.
“Thereafter, they saw my account balance and requested to pay 1million naira but they later reduced to 500,000 naira and lastly, they insisted on 250,000, told me that if I didn’t provide it, they will lock me up for days and my people won’t know my whereabouts”, he furiously lamented.
Following the arrest of the Police Officers, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, stated that the case will be investigated thoroughly and if they are found guilty, the Police will be convicted.
