Former aviation minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has expressed sadness over the death of the former attorney general of the federation and a one-time Minister of Education in the first republic, Chief Richard Akinjide
Fani-Kayode in a post eulogies the former AGF describing him as a father, leader, nationalist and a political juggernaut.
According to Fani-Kayode, “It is with the utmost sadness that I received the news, in the early hours of this morning, that our father and leader, Chief Richard Akinjide SAN, who was the Minister of Education in the First Republic, the Minister of Justice in the Second Republic, a great nationalist, a political juggernaut, an erudite and senior member of the British and Nigerian Bar and an elder statesman has passed on.”
“He was a great man with a brilliant and incisive mind and he was a trusted colleague, political associate and close friend of my late father Chief Remilekun Fani-Kayode SAN, Q.C. CON. We loved and revered him.”
“My commiserations and prayers go to his family and particularly to his daughter and my dear sister Jumoke Akinjide, who was the former Minister of FCT, his son Mr Yomi Akinjide, who was my colleague at Cambridge University and his daughter Bukola, who was my colleague at London University. We are one and I share in their pain.”
Fani-Kayode stated that the South West and indeed Nigeria has lost a great son and worthy leader.
He prayed “the Lord grant his family the strength to bear this irreparable loss and may his soul Rest In Peace.”
