Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State has ordered security agents to completely lockdown Daura Emirate over the testing of three members of the immediate family of Medical Doctor Aliyu Yakubu who died of Corona Virus 6 days ago.
“The wife of the late Doctor and two of his children have tested positive from the result of their blood sample sent to the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Abuja.
Masari discloses this while exchanging views with newsmen on Friday in Katsina.
He said the three victims are among the 23 persons that their blood sample was taken to NCDC Abuja for confirmation whether they are the virus-positive.
The Katsina Government had quarantined the 23 people following a report of coronavirus outbreak in the area.
Masari said with the recent development, the government has directed complete lockdown of Daura area from Saturday 11th April 2020 by 7 am.
He said a resident of Daura area have been directed to sit at home while the government will continue taking blood sample of suspected people that have direct contact with late Dr Yakubu.
Masari explained that as palliative measures the government will allow operations of a pharmaceutical chemist, grain selling centres and mini markets for selling vegetable items to the resident of Daura and its environs.
He further said the government will also provide food items to a resident of Daura area.
The Governor said that people who had emergency situations are free to approach security agents for permission to buy food items, medical drugs and other important items for survival.
He said the lockdown may be extended to any area of the state that has a link with the outbreak of coronavirus disease.
