The President, Muhammadu Buhari, has approved 774,000 Nigerians, majorly youths, to be recruited into the Special Public Works Programme, SPW, to eradicate suffering in this era of Corona Virus pandemic.
According to news gathered, the Special Public Work Programme was launched in February 2020 under the National Directorate of Employment to engage young Nigerians in rural local governments across the country, Nigeria.
First set of the programme was up 40,000 Nigerians under the age of 18-30years engaged in the pilot phase which covered 8 states and 5 rural local government per state with 1000 beneficiaries per Local Government Area.
In a bid to increase the number, President Muhammadu Buhari approved more for the Programme to be extended to all 36 states and Federal Capital Territory FCT, from October to December 2020.
This gave birth to employment for 774,000 Nigerians, 1,000 young Nigerians per local government area.
To recall that eight States in the pilot phase of the Nigeria Directorate of Employment managed SPW program are Ebonyi, Borno, Ed, Ekiti, Adamawa, Kwara, Katsina, Jigawa.
However, Special Public Works Programme Beneficiaries have been recruited to work around clearing/cleaning of streets, markets, schools, drains, among others and also maintenance of rural feeder roads.
For clarification, no skills or formal education is required for the SPW Program execution. The target areas are rural communities.

However, Mr President has endorsed the foundation with N500 billion COVID-19 Crisis Intervention Fund.
Moreover, it will help in financing the Federal Government’s Interventions to help states in improving medical services, offices and among others.
Following reactions, many have said Sinzu Money, according to them will recruit 774,000 Nigerians, “lol all is audio recruitment”.
