Chelsea are among clubs alerted by Franck Kessie’s turning down a new contract offer from AC Milan, according to Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 24-year-old is in the final year of his contract at San Siro and, La Gazetta dello Sport now claims that the midfielder has turned down Milan’s recent offer worth €6.5million (£5.6m)-a-year.
It remains unclear whether Milan will raise their offer, but the report added Milan are resigned to losing the midfielder this January or on a free transfer next summer.
Chelsea, alongside Tottenham Hotspur, are reportedly among clubs monitoring the situation.
Any interested party can legally negotiate a pre-contract agreement with the Ivory Coast international in January before signing him as a free agent next summer.
Alternatively, if they cannot wait, they might be able to sign the midfielder for a likely low transfer fee in January.
