Multichoice Nigeria has alerted DSTV and GOTV cable users over the new increment of VAT fee from 5% to 7.5% that will be implemented soon.
Recap that in January, the 2020 finance budget was signed into law, which affected the VAT increments.
Sources disclosed to Daily News Nigeria on Saturday that the company will fully implement the increments on Ist of June 2020 after which the Federal government has implemented in February.
According to the report, the company noted that the effect didn’t take place now due to COVID-19 pandemic as its understandable that all Nigerians are struggling to feed and stay safe.
However, they alert now ahead of June, when the effect will take place.
“We acknowledge that Nigerians are living under increased economic pressure and want to make every naira they spend count. We remain committed to providing our customers with value for their naira while giving them access to the best available content”, Muiltchoice said.
To talk on the increment effect, DSTV premium subscription rate moves from N15, 800 to N16,200 while GOtv Max price will rise to N3, 280 from N3,200.
Following Nigerians reactions, users especially boiled as they emphasized on the effective date as it is too close, knowing fully that many are praying for food on the table and to stay safe as this era is tight globally, however, the effect will start in June as earlier reported.
On the other hand, many predicted that Multichoice will lose customers after the effect of the increments.
