Amidst Covid-19 pandemic, a 17 years old wife, Salma Hassan, killed her husband over sexual intercourse.
Reports gathered that the incident happened in Bauchi State, Nigeria.
Following reasons why Hassan murdered her beloved husband, Mohammed Mustapha, she said he made an attempt to have sex without her consent, which she saw as an invasion of privacy or rape.
“I never knew s3x is a marital obligation. On that fateful night when he approached me for s3x, I refused him because I have never been involved in it. I thought he wanted to defile me, the 17-year old wife told reporters.
“He got angry and was trying to force himself on me with slaps and beating, then I picked up a knife to scare him away but he kept coming. I didn’t know when I stabbed him with the knife in his chest”, Salma pitifully confessed.
Salma Hassan hails from Itas Gadau Local government, Bauchi State, Nigeria.
Reacting to the case, Nigerians took to their social media page to condemn underage and forced marriage as such 17-year old wife culture is mosied practice in the North part of the country.
Some opinionated that one day the North will sit back and reconsider the evil practice of cradle snatching and allow the children, especially the teenagers make something out of their lives before marriage. However, Salma Hassan doesn’t look 17-year old wife.
While, on the other hand, many condemned Islamic religion as they tender their apologies to the real Muslims out there, disclosed that reports reaching their desk are that the Hausas practice this demonic act.
Furthermore, some attested to the claim that even the Hausa’s don’t do this any more, except people from the villages are still accustomed to this tradition.
Contrary to the condemnation, some stated that the demonic is not in Islam but an act by some Hausa parents to avoid their responsibilities.
In addition, few viewed that underage marriages happen in more than just Hausa regions as it happens outside Nigeria and outside Africa.
