No fewer than eleven persons including a traditional ruler were on Wednesday killed in Taraba State by suspected soldiers from Cameroon.

The incident, It was learnt took place at Manga village of Takum Local Government Council of the state in the early hours of Wednesday.

The attack came barely a month after soldiers from the country attacked some villages in Kurmi Local Government Council of the state.

Confirming the incident, a brother of the traditional ruler alleged to have been killed by the soldiers, said the soldiers had earlier attacked a neighboring community in Cameroon before storming Manga village in Takum.

The brother of the late monarch who gave his name as Joseph Manga, confirmed that “The Amazonian separatist soldiers attacked my village Manga” which according to him “is a border community between Taraba State and the Republic of Cameroon.”

Narrating how his brother was killed, Manga said “they first of all attacked a village on the other side of the divide and killed some people before crossing over to attack Manga community.”

He said the community is still busy combining the bush in search of more dead bodies and missing persons.

Some of the community members who also spoke with our correspondent, expressed sadness at the way and manner soldiers from the neighboring country have continued to trouble the border communities.

Also confirming the incident, the council chairman of Takum,
Shiban Tikari, said five corpses have so far been recovered as at the time he visited the area today.

The chairman who said he was alerted via a distress call, said he immediately mobilized to the area alongside with some soldiers from the council.

He said, “I can confirm to you that we have so far recovered 5 bodies from the scene.

We are still in search of other bodies a d those declared missing.”
